Collects Peripheral Blood Progenitor Cells from suitable allogeneic donors. Performs therapeutic apheresis procedures and peripheral blood progenitor collections on patients and normal donors. Evening, weekend and holiday coverage. Assists with laboratory support functions, writing, updating procedures, monitoring, maintaining equipment. Experience in ICU, oncology, dialysis and or pediatric nursing preferred. Basic computer skills, Knowledge of Apheresis instrumentation helpfulDuties: Performs Automated Red Blood Cell Exchanges and Therapeutic Plasma Exchanges using the Spectra Optia® apheresis system on patients w/ various diagnoses from 7 different services (i.e. Acute Chest, Sickle Cell Crisis, multi-organ failure, Myastenia Gravis, Guillain Barre', Transplant rejection, SLE, TTP, Glomerulonephritis, etc.... ) Performs therapeutic evaluations. Assists with department support functions, writing/updating procedures, maintaining equipment. Site maintenance/organization. Other tasks as assigned.Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic.Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers. Self-motivated, able to work independently and well with others.
