This could be it! We are looking for the Lead Counsel (US) at INSHUR, pre-pandemic based in New York City and currently remote but working the EST timezone.
You ll be working on a next gen commercial auto insurance platform expanding in the USA, UK and the EU.
Supported by (and reporting to) the VP of Legal & Commercial, you'll be joining a friendly team of 3 who believe in providing the business with best-in-class support when it comes to all things legal and compliance.
What you'll doAs our Lead Counsel in the US you will own all legal items regionally (US), providing overall support with all things legal in the broadest possible sense.
You will be providing legal support including on product regulatory filings and compliance (including market conduct, regulatory licensing, consumer complaints and privacy), coverage questions and any ad-hoc advice to the claims function and IP, marketing and advertising legal advice generally.
You will handle corporate & commercial contracts and partnerships (including managing relationships with external counsel as needed), advise on agency and distribution law matters, be the point-of-contact for any dispute resolution issues and act as co-sec legal support for our US operating entity.

We'd love to hear from you if you: Are a qualified attorney with around 8 years post-qualification experience of working in a hands-on, client- facing commercial environment with the majority of the time working in the P&C insurance business or providing legal advice to that business Have a track record of working with US insurance regulators to resolve a variety of regulatory matters, including product form and rate questions.
Are licensed to practice law in at least one US state and in good standing.

Our budget for this role is $160,000-$185,000 and we will take into account your previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.

Where possible, we will cross-train and/or focus on what interests you, whether it s to be involved in various aspects of the business including building broader commercial relationships with INSHURs channel and capacity partners or developing and/or maintaining insurance industry trade association and other professional relationships and stay current on new or proposed laws and anticipate trends that may impact the business.
